A lifelong space buff from Ottawa will be in the Mojave Desert on Monday, watching the vehicle that he desire will bring him into space in the coming years.

Magmic Games chief executive John Criswick will join 13 Canadians about 200 other space tourist hopefuls to attend the first official strut of SpaceShipTwo, a Virgin Galactic vehicle created to bring tourists into sub-orbit 110 kms up on the cheap.

A ticket costs US$200,000, and testing for the flights will proceed into next year.

Should he fly, Criswick will be the 2nd Canadian space tourist. Cirque du Soleil Guy Laliberte hitched a $20-million ride aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft earlier this year and concisely joined the crew aboard the International Space Station .
